Sometimes acting out of love means leaving someone alone. Not sucking up their time. Not competing for their affections. Not allowing them to wonder what the definition of the relationship is. Not letting them get emotionally invested in you. Not doing things for attention. Not saying something when you really want to. Because all those things are really selfish. All those things hurt more than direct, up-front rejection or clarification in the long run.
Sometimes love means saying goodbye in some way, shape or form. Not having the same relationship you and the other person used to. And it’s horrible at first, but everything ends up leading to a better ending. Better than you could’ve ever imagined.
